CBT vs REBT: How Rational Thought Restructuring Rewires Anxiety

When we experience intense emotional distress, we often believe that the external event is the direct cause of our misery. However, cognitive psychology reveals that it is not the event itself, but our evaluation of it that shapes our emotions.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), founded by Dr. Albert Ellis, posits that irrational beliefs—such as 'I MUST perform flawlessly' or 'Others MUST treat me fairly at all times'—are the root cause of chronic anxiety and anger.

In our counseling practice at Lite Minds, we guide clients through the ABCDE model: Identifying the Activating Event, uncovering the Belief, analyzing the Emotional Consequence, Disputing the irrational belief, and establishing an Effective new philosophy.

By combining REBT with behavioral experiments from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), individuals rapidly develop emotional resilience and sustainable calm.
